Efficient and Stable O-Methylation of Catechol with Dimethyl Carbonate over Aluminophosphate Catalysts

The O-methylation of catechol is an effective method for the industrial production guaiacol used as important chemical. However, low conversion and poor catalyst stability are most critical issues that need to be addressed. Herein, with dimethyl carbonate was investigated over aluminophosphate (APO) catalysts, using a continuous-flow system produce guaiacol. APO catalysts were synthesized varying P/Al molar ratios calcination temperatures study their effects on catalytic performance reaction. physico-chemical properties thoroughly XRD, NH3-TPD, CO2-TPD, FTIR, Py-FTIR. ratio temperature significantly influenced structure texture, well surface acid-base APO. Both medium acid base sites observed Lewis acted main active sites. (P/Al = 0.7) exhibited highest activity excellent stability, due suitable pairs.
